Walk This Way! New for Summer 2013!
Prerequisite: Handler must be working toward competitive obedience titles
Everyone has heard about dogs that effortlessly learned to heel, but for the majority of dogs learning to heel is a difficult concept to grasp, and the same method doesn’t work for all dogs. Maybe your dog lags, or is great on-leash but fades off-leash? Or maybe he does beautiful heeling at home, only to be flat, stressed or disconnected when you go into the ring? We’ll give you some different ideas for teaching (or improving) heeling for competitive obedience, and to make heeling fun for your dog, without the use of harsh corrections.
Attention
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Obedience Level 2 or Novice and instructor recommendation.
This is for the experienced handler who is planning to compete seriously in obedience or in rally and is willing to work on precision and details. The exercises taught will establish reliable connection with your dog and will create a solid foundation for any competitive obedience level exercise.
Some elements taught are: eye contact, attention recipe, foundation exercises, prompts and props, reward timing, etc. The training is based on reinforcing and rewarding your dog’s correct choices and decisions, for lasting accurate performance.
