As the incoming President, I would like to thank the previous Board for all their work last year. I would also like to welcome the new board members, Lori, Monica, Kim, Debbie and Karen. I am looking forward to working with you this year, to help Swansea grow.
Swansea has some challenges to face in the coming year, some of those being; attracting new members, filling all our classes and being financially stable. Having been a member for approximately 25 years, I have seen Swansea go through problems and come through them stronger. I am confident that with the support of the membership we will come through these challenges with flying colours.
To solve some of these challenges our focus will be on updating the Swansea website to make it user friendly and advertising. Swansea will be advertising classes on Kijiji and on Craig’s List. These are free and it is a perfect opportunity to advertise our classes, when the majority of people look on the internet to find things.
Swansea is a member oriented club, which in my mind means without members who are willing to help somewhere in Swansea, we will not have a club. This club was formed in 1974 and I want to see it continue to operate for many more years. I live 1 1/2 hours east of where Swansea operates but I am President of the club and Chief Ring Steward for the Trial which means that I will be travelling into Toronto many times to do things for the club. There are members that I know well and some that I do not. I would like to see and meet all our members out at classes, the trial or at meetings where you can volunteer to help or just come out to meet and socialise with other members of the club.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the General Meeting on March 8th.
