Club Volunteering

The activities that Swansea Dog Obedience Club needs help with change over time. All Swansea Members are required to participate in 3 activities which support or promote the goals of the Club. Please feel free to refer to our list below in order to see what activities would best suit your expertiese.
The positions we currently want help with are marked with an underline and an open eye.

Outreach Assistants

Canine Callers is a Therapy Dog program that allows us to visit seniors' homes for both a performance, some friendly competition and visitation with the residents and their families.
Dogs and their handlers are required to have a CGN certification and be able to pass an internal assessment to participate. It is also preferred that handlers can pass a Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Reference Check.
If your dog is not up for the task of meeting so many people just yet, thats OKAY! Canine callers also requires many people to attend without dogs. 1 or 2 volunteers are really helpful as tech support and as crowd control.

Our Obedience and Rally trial always needs the help of 1 table steward and 2 ring stewards per ring. Therefore, it is convenient to have at least 6 or 7 people available come trial days.
Trial experience is not necessary and ring stewarding might actually be a great help to provide context to a sport you want to train for.
It is preferred that our table stewards have experience table stewarding if not stewarding and competing.

The Swansea Dog Obedience Club is always looking for new Members and students. Members can help by taking time out of their busy schedules to advertise the start of new classes or by handing out buisness cards to veterinary offices in the neighbourhood.
